Life Long Learning

Educational programming at our Congregation offers opportunities for congregants to engage in a journey of learning and spiritual growth. Members of all ages are challenged to think, question and contribute creatively to our common journey.

PJ Library

PJ Library is a Jewish family engagement program implemented on a local level throughout North America. Through this program, children are mailed free, high-quality Jewish children's literature and music on a monthly basis. All families raising Jewish children from age six months through eight years are welcome to enroll.

Furthermore, books are now available for pre-teens, teens, parents, and grandparents.

PJ Library programming and events, hosted by the Jewish Community Center of Youngstown,  are open to members of the greater Youngstown community and are not limited to the Jewish community.

Religious School

Ohev Beth Sholom is home of the Greater Youngstown Area Joint Religious School.  The religious school's goals include: instilling a strong Jewish identity, giving a solid background in Jewish holidays, history, celebrations and rituals, and teaching Jewish values and ideals.  Each synagogue in the area holds its own separate Consecration and Confirmation ceremonies.

Adult Education

A variety of adult educational opportunities including classes taught by the Rabbi and programs sponsored through the Brotherhood and Sisterhood on contemporary topics of Jewish and general interest are available.

Additionally, the greater Youngstown Area Jewish community offers shared programs and Jewish learning opportunities through the Jewish Community Center of Youngstown, CJE, and Youngstown Area Jewish Federation.
